This lightning strike was photographed in the early summer of 1998, prior to availability of the electronic lightning trigger device, utilizing a time exposure of approximately one second. The original Kodachrome 25P (Professional) film transparency is much too dense (dark) for analog Ilfochrome printing or even achieving a satisfactory scan. So this image reproduction was derived from a high resolution scan made from an overexposed duplicate transparency using the same film (Kodachrome 25P) – thus preserving the sharpness and resolution of the original film.
